Michael Owusu, is a Deputy Director at the Directorate of Crop Services, Ministry of Food and Agriculture. He is an agronomist by training. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in general Agriculture from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Queensland, Australia. He has over 15 years experience in crop production practices.

Mr. Owusu has been involved in the implementation of the "Feed Ghana Program’ at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture" an initiative, which has significantly improved the adoption of fertilizers and improved seeds and strengthened the food security of the country. He has worked closely with the International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) on a number of projects towards the development of the fertilizer sector in Ghana. He has also been involved in policy formulation and implementation especially in crops sub-sector at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Mr. Owusu is a strong advocate of the integration of organic and inorganic fertilizers to enhance soil health and fertility. Additionally, he is a key member of the ‘Fertilizer Technical Working Group’ a technical group that generate data on fertilizers to guide policy and to help industry players to make informed decisions.
